Mission Statement To support the Advocacy and Guardianship needs of the Elderly and/or Disabled who do not have the ability to pay for essential services and care.
AGED is a 501-3c non-profit established to help the disabled & elderly qualify for federal, state and county benefits. Many of our Senior Citizens are forced to make difficult decisions between food and medicine. Many younger disabled persons are unable to get adequate care due to lack of knowledge or the difficult to navigate social services network. We here at AGED are doing something to help. Due to the inequalities in the social services network in the United States, many people that should be eligible for assistance with medical needs are not. This is due to unrealistically mandated income and asset limitations imposed by Medicaid rules. Many elderly and disabled people don't qualify for Medicaid due to incomes of $500.00 or less over the Medicaid limit. This amount of money and their frail condition (unable to work) is not a socially justifiable reason to deny these persons the medical care they need. AGED operates under a regulation in the Federal Code which allows for the formation of a Medicaid Pooled Trust. Title 42 helps Social Security determine disability: TITLE 42—THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE Chapter7> SUBCHAPTER XVI> Part A> § 1382c This section designates a Non-Profit run Pooled Trust may be used to assist disabled individuals: This is the State of Florida DCF ACCESS PROGRAM POLICY MANUAL, look down the page and click on Appendix A-22 What all this means is the federal and state government has given us a tool called a Pooled Trust with which to help the elderly and disabled become qualified for the benefits they should already have as citizens of the United States. We welcome our challenge and hope to make Florida a better state for people of ALL incomes and abilities. AGED also supports other Non-Profit Organizations that assist the disabled and elderly.
